About Us

SADAP is a growing startup with its roots originating from TU Braunschweig, one of the top technical universities in Germany, and a renowned history in the field of air and foil bearings. Officially established in November 2021, SADAP has been actively involved in various research projects since then, simultaneously supporting well-known names in the German industry in the development, optimization, and deployment of air lubricated bearings across different sectors. SADAP's products, in the form of digitally intelligent software solutions for designing various types of air bearings, are expected to hit the market by the end of 2024.

Tradition of Air Bearing Technology in Braunschweig

The history of air bearing technology in Braunschweig is closely intertwined with the Technical University and dates back to the 1960s. This tradition was significantly shaped by Professor Dr.-Ing. Joachim Glinicke, who served as Professor for Machine Elements and Materials Handling Technology at TU Braunschweig from 1974 to 2002.

Professor Glinicke pioneered work in the field of rotordynamics and bearing technology. His groundbreaking research on aerodynamic journal bearings and their stability behavior laid the foundation for our current understanding of this technology. Under his leadership, innovative calculation methods for air bearings were developed and experimentally validated.

A particular focus of his work was the development of design criteria for aerodynamic bearings under various operating conditions. His research group established the institute as an internationally recognized center of excellence for air bearing technology. The methods he developed for calculating and designing journal bearings are still used today as a foundation for modern developments.

SADAP continues this rich history and advances it with modern digital methods. Our developments are based on this profound knowledge base and expand it through innovative software solutions and new calculation approaches to meet future challenges.

"Air bearing technology in Braunschweig represents over 50 years of research and innovation - a tradition we are carrying into the future with state-of-the-art technology."
